Aikido
Aikido, the “Way of Harmony,” is a modern Japanese martial
art dedicated to self-cultivation and non-aggressive self-defense. Physically, it builds flexibility, coordination, and refined technique through throws, rolls, falls, and joint controls. Mentally, it nurtures discipline, focused awareness, and compassion. Known for its elegance and nonviolent approach to conflict, Aikido offers a path to move with balance and dignity.
Step onto the mat, leave daily stress behind, and rediscover
the joy of mindful movement in harmony with others.

World AikidokaAntonio Terrone is the Chief Instructor of the Lakeshore Aikido Club and holds the rank of 5th-degree black belt (Aikikai Godan). He began his Aikido journey in Italy in 1988 and continued his training in France, the Netherlands, Japan, China, and Taiwan, studying over the decades with some of the most respected Aikido teachers in Europe, Japan, and the United States.
His teaching reflects this rich international experience — rooted in tradition, refined through years of practice, and expressed with clarity and precision on the mat. Beyond the dojo, Antonio brings a deep cultural and intellectual dimension to his work. He teaches courses on East Asian cultures and Japanese martial arts at Northwestern University. He writes extensively on Aikido and budō philosophy. His work has appeared in internationally recognized publications such as Black Belt Magazine and Spirituality Studies, and he is the author of The Moon in the River: The Budō Path to the Empty Mind. Training at the Lakeshore Aikido Club means more than learning technique — it is an opportunity to explore Aikido as a living art of movement, awareness, and inner cultivation. |

アントニオさんの雰囲気がとても気に入りました。 私の目指している合気道の方向性が同じであることが嬉しいです。 "I really like Antonio's beautiful posture, the flow of his techniques, and the aura he exudes. I'm glad that the direction of Aikido that I'm aiming for is the same as his." Yoshida Tomoyuki Shihan, 6thdan Aikikai and Senior Instructor at Osaka Aikkai Foundation, Osaka, Japan. |
